Lázár Winery

The love of grapes and winemaking has been in our family for generations. Our winery builds on these traditions, combining traditional winemaking with modern technologies and approaches.

One of the oldest wine cellars in the Vörösmáli vineyard, located between Aszófő and Balatonfüred, was built by Pál Pechl in 1890. Since the cellar was built, not only the science of vine care but also the knowledge of winemaking has been passed down from father to son. My father, Dr. János Lázár, was an active member of the Mountain Community, and in 2005, thanks to the trust of the wine-growers, he became the President of the Balatonfüred-Szőlős Mountain Community. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Balaton wines, and he was also responsible for the launch and further organisation of the Balaton Wine Competition. As a winemaker, he worked tirelessly to ensure that the region’s flagship wine, Olaszrizling, would earn its rightful place among the wines of the region.

We now have 8.5 hectares of vineyards of our own, which we are constantly tending, while renewing the cellar technologies. In 2018, the entire ageing and storage capacity was replaced by an acid-proof tank system and reductive technology was introduced. We want to produce wines that have the same spirit, thought and awareness that our family represents and that will further enrich the popularity and reputation of the Balatonfüred-Csopak wine region.
